Live-aboard holidays Pemba Island

Please note there is a 10% Christmas and New Year supplement.
The above schedule is only a suggested list of sailings and we can be flexible.
The weeks 'By Negotiation' are maintenance weeks and are flexible and subject to change.
'Provisional booking' means there has been interest in that week, but we will only hold it for one month,
thereafter that week will be available.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

You will be met on arrival at Mombasa Airport then transferred to Shimoni where you will board M Y Kisiwani. If time permits M Y Kisiwani will leave for Pemba Island. If this is not possible, diving or snorkelling will be arranged near Shimoni with an early morning departure for Pemba Island on day 2.

Days 2, 3 4 5 & 6

The boat will anchor at different dive sites during the week. There will be opportunities to go ashore to visit local villages, explore the island or relax on the beach. On one of the evenings we will have a beach bar-b-q on Mesali Island

Day 7

M Y Kisiwani will leave Pemba Island to return to Shimoni. Overnight on board.

Day 8

Morning transfer to Mombasa for morning flight.

The stern deck with a full length ladder to a dive platform on the water allows easy access to the diving tenders which are used for diving. The tenders are in VHF radio contact with M Y Kisiwani.

Clients are provided with diving cylinders, weight belts and weights.
A 4mm wet suit is suitable from July to November and a 2 mm wet suit is suitable from December to April.

Each dive is preceded by a thorough briefing after which divers may dive in buddy pairs or be accompanied by the dive guide/instructor

Typically you will dive three to four times a day, including night dives. We do a max of 22 dives per week.

Pemba is best suited to the experienced diver, due to strong currents and great depths. There are some sites suited to the less experienced diver, but conditions should always be checked first. Drift dives are the most common due to the currents and it is advisable to carry a surface marker buoy.
